The condominium preserves the old style of the great Mexican haciendas, and at the entrance you can see a plaque made with baldocines from the time where its history is told, which reads as follows:
"Welcome to this house called "El Retoño"
It was restored at the beginning of the century by the famous bullfighter Pepe Ortiz. Later it was the home of the Peruvian artist Felipe Cossio del Pomar who founded the School of Fine Arts in 1938 with the collaboration of the writer Sterling Dichinson. Felipe Cossio and Enrique Fernandez Martinez, former governor of Guanajuato, founded the Instituto Allende in 1951.
Great parties have been celebrated in this house and distinguished figures from the political and artistic world have passed through here.
